Timber Haven Cabin #5, Big Bear California
In this first Basecamp x CaliDOMESTIQUE series, we venture out to Big Bear California and stay at Timber Haven Cabins #5 c/o @airbnb (link below)
We took our bikes and hiking shoes to spent the weekend in Big Bear California. Big Bear Lake sits roundly 6,700” above sea level, while ski resort baseballs start at 7,000”.
The Timber Haven Cabins are situated on Tulip Lane which turns into Forest Rd 2N10. Alternatively this turns into Skyline Trail which is a mtb singlet tack dream. Downtown Big Bear has many family friendly bike paths so bring the little ones and all the bikes. Across the lake (opposite of the village) you’ll find Holcomb Valley. This is truly a gravel paradise. If you.
Bring your road bike, the lake loop is exactly 15mi / 25km and will keep your heartbeat up with some false flats and some rollers. Whether it’s a day trip, weekend, or extended stay, this 3hr drive from Los Angeles should definitely be on your cycling bucket list.
