A Day Trip to Alabama Hills

It was forecasted to be a wet windy day in Los Angeles County, so we decided to drive the 3 hours North to Lone Pine at the base of Mt. Whitney to explore Alabama Hills. My daughter and I are seasoned Bamers, but it was my wife’s first time. We arrived to our favorite campsite and set up the tent and kitchen table area. The girls explored, then burned through a couple pages of their favorite books while nestled on top of the unique rock formations. We then took a quick .6 mile hike to the starting of the Mobius Arch Trail Loop and then returned back to cook some lunch. The bike tagged along for a Hollywood Racks photo shoot, and before we left, we made sure to snap a photo at the famous “Movie Road”. Whitney Portal road has reopened, but we took the super scenic “Tuttle Creek” straight into downtown Lone Pine on HWY 395. Once in town we enjoyed crafted coffee’s, coconut cream pie, and chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone at Lone Star Bistro before heading back south.
